Crowne Plaza Resort Colchester – Five Lakes – Away Day

We organised a recent away day for a group of Executive Assistant’s and Personal Assistant’s from key brands such as Barclays, Omnicom Europe Limited, M&G Investments, National Bank of Kuwait (Intl) Plc, Singapore Economic Development Board, Clifford Chance, Thomas Pink, DZ English Courses and the Greater London Authority.

The aim of the trip was to  travel outside of London and find a venue where our EA’s and PA’s could relax, sample the venue and enjoy the food, wine and facilities all under one roof.

Our chosen destination venue for our away day was the Crowne Plaza Resort Colchester – Five Lakes near the coastal town of Maldon, Essex which is the first Crowne Plaza Resort in the UK. Central London is easily accessible from London Stansted Airport with direct motorway and train links. Set in 320 acres of unspoiled Essex countryside, it offers some of the finest sports facilities in the south east of England, including two magnificent 18-hole golf courses.

Our guests were able to relax in their Spa and enjoy superb food at their restaurant Brasserie 1. All their bars and restaurants are open to the public and you can enjoy the traditional British and European cuisine in Brasserie 1; Bar Lacu offered a more relaxed and enjoyable ambience throughout the day. A wide choice of beverages from deluxe coffees to lavish champagne were available, as well as light snacks. 18 purpose built, modern meeting rooms offer Wi-Fi and over 3500sqm of exhibition space suitable for 4000 delegates.

Our guests were also treated to complimentary beauty treatments which went down very well.  That evening the group met for a refreshing drink in Bar Lacu before they embarked on a tour of the venue which saw them take in some of the nearly refurbished rooms and conference rooms of all sizes including their Arena which can hold up to 4000 delegates. The extensive facilities they have to offer are endless including indoor swimming pool, outdoor tennis courts, covered driving ranges and a UEFA certified football pitch.

After the tour we took our guests to dine within Catch 22 which is an amazing fine dining experience which didn’t let anyone down.   The night moved onto the newly built nightclub called Pulse which is within the Resort and had our guests dancing the night away until the small hours of the morning.

All in all a superb venue which is idyllically set in 320 acres of Essex countryside however located just 15 minutes from the A12.  Outstanding facilities and fantastic staff that went the extra mile to cater for our guests every need which made our away day memorable.
