‘Adrift’ artist Hew Locke and All Hallows by the Tower church vicar The Reverend Bertrand Olivier talk about the soon to be installed large-scale artwork and the significance of it’s placement within All Hallows – the mariners’ church.
The work, a whimsical boat festooned with garlands of flowers and foliage explores the spiritual and metaphysical symbolism of the ship and sea travel: an evocation of the final funerary journey.
‘Adrift’ is part of The Mayor’s Thames Festival and will be installed Friday 23 August — Sunday 29 September 2013
