The annual Wonderful Communications Christmas Toy Party once again provided the platform for a variety of organisations of all shapes and sizes to come together to help raise awareness, funds and collect brand new boxed toys in aid of Lucy Air Ambulance for Children, a national charity that flies children up to the age of 16 years between hospitals across the UK and The Royal London Hospital children’s ward.
The stunning, brand new, Bankside Hotel, located on Southbank between Blackfriars and Southwark station was the venue of choice and comprises of 161 beautiful bedrooms and suites with contemporary pieces of art dotted at almost every turn of this super outpost. The toy party took place in the slick White Box which works as a blank canvas as an event space and the attentive hotel staff ensured guests had a fantastic time throughout the evening.
Guests sampled a tasty selection of festive canapés such as Cauliflower pakoras with mint yogurt
tempura prawns with chilli dip, jamon croquettes, mayonnaise, lentil hummus and flatbread. The bowl food was equally delicious and comprised of salt baked beetroot pickled cucumber and ricotta, goan monkfish curry, basmati rice, crispy shallots and celeriac remoulade, braised ox cheek, roasted Jerusalem artichokes and horseradish. Traditional mince pies were served as desserts, enjoyed by all and guests glasses were kept topped up with house wine, beer, soft drinks and juices.
The Wonderful Communications Christmas toy party managed to raise over £1400 on the night and further donations are expected after the event has finished too. Lots of super brand new toys, games and gifts found their way under the Christmas tree throughout the night and will be donated to all the children, their siblings and families at The Royal London Children’s ward during the festive season.
