A Plush and Sophisticated Grand Opening at Purobeach Illetas In Mallorca

Purobeach Illetas is the latest uber cool beach club from the ever growing Puro Group and is located in the affluent resort of Ses Illetas, Calvia. This beautiful outpost is the jewel in the crown and the flagship of the international group of hotels and beach clubs in Mallorca.

I was invited to the Grand Opening party via Luxurious Magazine and was granted “access all areas” to experience the epitome of luxury lifestyle on offer at the newest European playground. Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands archipelago which is part of Spain and positioned in the Mediterranean. It’s blessed with a warm, sunny climate, lush and verdant surroundings with a stunning array of mountains, vineyards and beaches.

My flight from the UK was swift and pleasant and I landed in the capital Palma which is vibrant, stylish and brimming with energy. My taxi took approximately 15 minutes from the airport to the hotel which gave me an indication that this petite destination is perfect for a weekend getaway.

I was staying at Purohotel Palma which is also part of the Puro Group and is an ultra-modern, chic, boutique residence located in the old town of Palma de Mallorca. The impressive building is converted from an 18th-century palace and boasts 51 unique bedrooms and suites which the majority of the bedrooms overlook the central courtyard which consists of natural white stone adorned with palms and artistic furniture.

My bedroom was very state-of-the-art, air-conditioned and fully furnished with slick, dark varnished pieces and overlooked the patio courtyard. A generously sized room with a king bed was welcomed as were all the other luxury amenities in place such as an HD fully interactive digital TV, modern multi-media system, complimentary Wi-Fi and a well-stocked mini bar.

The dark wood décor theme continued throughout the bathroom with an inviting sunken bath tub, power shower and soft and fluffy bathrobe with slippers completed the room nicely.

Purohotel Palma also has a cool bar, inner patio areas, rooftop terrace with swanky day beds, a private west wing and a tranquil SPA space with massage rooms that offer a variety of treatments, sauna and a Turkish bath. I also had the opportunity to dine at the attractive OPIO Bar & Restaurant which is the a la carte eatery at the hotel and serves a variety of Asiatic and Mediterranean dishes. The ambience is calm and welcoming with a contemporary feel that features neutral colours, refined lighting and eye-catching modern art.

The gastronomy and service were excellent and I thoroughly recommend the succulent Fillet of duck breast served with wok vegetables, Foie gras cream and almond praline. For dessert lovers, I would suggest the Pistachio Air which was a heavenly soft sponge pistachio and meringue cake coupled with white chocolate and coconut ice-cream which was simply mouthwatering.

By the evening all roads led to the eagerly anticipated Purobeach Illetas Grand Opening party which was the event everyone was talking about. On arrival, guests were treated to copious amounts of premium champagne, spirits and an endless stream of delightful and delicious canapes which seemed to set the tone for the evening.

Dinner was equally impressive and had a menu that consisted of a divine selection of Fine Claire oysters, mixed sashimi with salmon, tuna and butterfish and Piri-piri Prawns to name but a few culinary treats. My favourite dishes were the savoury Kobe beef carpaccio with truffle vinaigrette and Japanese mushrooms and the tasty Iberico ham with black olive bread. The Tahitian strawberries for dessert were a real crowd pleaser too.

Over 1,000 guests were in attendance for this spectacular gathering ranging from a number of VIPs, dignitaries, celebrities, local and international media, who all came together to pay homage to Purobeach Illetas and it didn’t let anyone down.

This easy on the eye and well-appointed beach haven offers direct access to the sea as well as a number of other spaces including its ravishing restaurant, sizeable terrace bar which affords breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean sea and Palma Bay. There are also a number of serene white cotton sun loungers, Balinese beds, parasols, beach zones, an Eden zone and a cave too, ensuring there is something for everyone to explore.

The dazzling landscape coupled with the glamorous, suave and sophisticated crowd was the perfect backdrop for the Puro music experience to take centre stage. A first class audio visual show on the huge LED screen was matched by the sensational DJ set from special guest international DJ, N’Dinga Gaba and talented singer Sabrina Chyld who were both joined on stage by Puro’s music and DJ extraordinaire, Sebas Ramis.

Together, the talented trio kept the packed dance floor moving until the very end, playing a superb selection of soulful deep house mixed with a number of 80’s classics from favourite artists such as Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. However, my highlight of the evening had to be when the dynamic DJ duo played the legendary Bob Marley’s ‘Buffalo Soldier’ which got the loudest cheer of the night from the pulsating party goers.

Purobeach Illetas was a truly memorable launch event with outstanding music, sublime cuisine, elegant guests and a fantastic atmosphere throughout.

The Puro Group has firmly laid down the foundations on a truly international scale and future plans will see the brand expand to Morocco, Egypt and Greece with additional projects in Mexico and the Caribbean. I am looking forward to returning to Purobeach Illetas to sample more of this exciting beach club sanctuary.
