04 Dec Sumptuous Offerings At The All New London Steakhouse Co. City

The well-established London Steakhouse Co.City combines impeccable food standards and outstanding table service, offering an unrivalled City dining experience.

The current London steakhouse restaurant landscape has never been so competitive and there is no shortage of fine dining eateries for meat lovers like myself to choose from.

Therefore, I was looking forward to sampling the much talked about menu at London Steakhouse Co. City and all it had to offer.

Nestled in the bustling square mile financial district, London Steakhouse Co. City is a short walk from Liverpool Street Station and has officially re-opened its doors to serve London’s powerful City clientele and fine dining steak aficionado’s far and wide.

As I walked through the grand entrance consisting of two large double doors, I was greeted by the welcoming host who kindly took my jacket and showed my guest and I to our awaiting table.  The 85-cover restaurant was teeming with diners and revealed a lavish split-level dining area decorated with a calm neutral colour scheme peppered with dark mahogany wood features which screamed true quintessential British charm.

The high ceilings enhance the look and feel of this polished yet vintage open-plan dining space with maroon leather arm chairs populating the room. The uniformed spotless white linen table clothes are united with dark-red leather to cover the circular dining tables, while a raised mezzanine seating area with its own bar for those looking for a little more serene surroundings whilst they dine, finishes off this elegant space nicely.

As my guest and I sat down to explore the menu we were greeted by our waiter for the evening who’s name was Darko and he was extremely knowledgeable  and personable when it came to the menu and offering us suitable recommendations too.

The dishes on offer looked divine, and I went straight for the beef short ribs which came with a BBQ glaze and coleslaw, which on my first mouthful, simply melted in my mouth, a good sign of a great choice for a starter.  They were just perfect in size, very tasty, succulent and served off the bone which made my rib experience a pleasant and non-messy affair.  The barbecue glaze was rich in taste and combined well with the fresh and crunchy texture of the coleslaw salad that accompanied this enjoyable dish. My guest kick-started his meal with one of the specials, which came in the form of beetroot salad which was garnished with goat’s cheese and a light vinaigrette. It also disappeared with ease.

Our table service was quick and efficient but didn’t feel rushed in any way, and Darko was on hand again to take us through the main dishes and various options on offer. After being guided through the various appetising steaks, I headed for the mouth-watering 8oz centre cut fillet which came with a rich béarnaise sauce.

We also had additional side dishes of spinach, creamed potatoes and Pont Neuf chips. My steak was well presented, lean, tender, sumptuous to taste and cooked to absolute perfection.

Darko explained that the centre cut fillet is naturally the prime part of the fillet, and often the most luxurious, and he was certainly right on that note. The soft creamed potatoes coupled with the smooth moist creamed spinach really finished off my delightful steak extravaganza of which I thoroughly recommend to all meat eaters looking for that premium steak experience. My guest opted for the equally impressive roasted salmon which sat on a bed of deliciously-moist parmesan risotto.

By now, I was certainly full and took a little pause before considering the dessert menu. I observed the restaurant further which was now packed with diners. I noticed that the sparkling marble-top bar lines the length of one wall showcasing the very best spirits paired with premium dessert wines. The walls were in fact adorned with magnificent Farrow & Ball paints, while artworks by ‘Jak’ one of Britain’s finest political cartoonists, echo around this majestic chophouse.

This fabulous outpost is also a great place for private events too and has an ideal area where heavy velvet curtains can be drawn across this space allowing seating for 20 guests, to create an exclusive party area. With the countdown to the festive season well underway, London Steakhouse Co. City offers the perfect environment to party during Christmas or welcome in the New Year with its style, grace and sassy seasonal menus.

It was now time to review the sweet menu which was highly inviting, and I was particularly drawn towards the pecan pie which is always pleasing on the palate. This fresh, light last course was once again just enough in size following such a hearty and exquisite piece de resistance. It was served slightly warm with a lush ambrosial vanilla ice cream that balanced the taste and temperature of this gorgeous and highly recommended dessert.

My dining partner chose the sticky toffee pudding that was topped with a generous helping of vanilla ice cream, and after that, he was truly defeated. Both my guest and I were thoroughly impressed with the excellent service of our waiter Darko and his team throughout the evening, and coupled with the wonderful ambience and the first class attention to detail with regards to the restaurant refurbishment, it’s no surprise that London Steakhouse Co.City is arguably one of the most talked about restaurants in the UK and is thoroughly worth a visit.
